SR Manufacturing Manager

FPC Bangor is working with a global paper maker looking for a Manufacturing Superintendent for a southeast location. The Sr Manufacturing Manager will provide direct oversight of the paper machine operation. The position will directly supervise 2 Assistant Superintendents and 1 OMC. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish and direct production operations in a safe and orderly manner providing quality products according to job schedules and customer specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations; adhere to permit requirements.
  • Lead efforts in pursuit of cost savings initiatives through operational improvements.
  • Develop, plan, and administer material and labor usage.
  • Create, implement, and monitor local KPI’s for department. 
  • Use six sigma and lean processes to implement process improvement projects to optimize equipment and reduce downtime.
  • Develop enhanced methods for new capital investments, cost reduction and restoration of equipment.
  • Improve paper machine production and reduce downtime and costs.
  • Liaison with other department managers to optimize mill production and alignment of maintenance management system with all improvement initiatives.
  • Sponsor employee ownership with supervisors and operators to assure continuity in reaching common production goals.
  • Foster employee engagement initiatives.
  • Encourage a behavior-based safety process.
  • Develop annual operating and maintenance budgets and review monthly actuals versus budget.
  • Preserve asset management systems for equipment performance and reliability improvement.
  • Ensure the training program for operators and supervisor is current and appropriate training goals are on target.
  • Administer and implement Labor relations (CBA) through consultation with the Human Resource and Mill Managers.
  • Provide leadership with the implementation of problem-solving strategies and execution of key performance objectives in the generation and distribution of steam, electrical power, and chemical recovery operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in an engineering or 10 years experience in management/leadership positions.
  • Paper Machine experience required; 5 years 
  • Strong communication skills (written/oral)
  • Solid problem solving, organizational, analytical, strategic planning and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to self-manage in a dynamic, fast paced environment.
  • Knowledgeable of LEAN and Six Sigma principles
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
