Position Overview: Our client, a leading 3PL, is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join their organization as a 3PL Station Manager. As the Station Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing freight forwarding operations while also handling specific aspects of distribution to include carted linehaul, TL, and expedited freight. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and efficient movement of goods, managing teams, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and partners.
Responsibilities:
Freight Forwarding Operations:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the freight forwarding station, including inbound and outbound logistics, customs compliance, and documentation.
Coordinate and optimize freight transportation, ensuring timely delivery of goods to clients.
Collaborate with internal teams, such as sales, customer service, and warehousing, to ensure seamless coordination and efficient workflows.
Continuously monitor and improve operational processes to enhance productivity, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.
Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in freight forwarding to ensure compliance and operational excellence.
Distribution Management:
Handle specific aspects of limited distribution, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and overseeing distribution networks for select clients or products.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement distribution strategies that align with client requirements and company goals.
Ensure accurate inventory tracking and reporting, minimizing stock discrepancies and optimizing stock levels.
Coordinate with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors to manage inventory replenishment, order processing, and delivery schedules.
Analyze distribution data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
Team Management:
Recruit, train, and manage a team of logistics professionals, providing guidance, support, and ongoing development opportunities.
Set clear performance objectives and conduct regular performance evaluations to ensure team members meet or exceed expectations.
Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance the skills and knowledge of the team members.
Resolve any operational issues or conflicts that may arise, promoting effective communication and problem-solving.
Client and Partner Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific logistics needs and providing exceptional customer service.
Collaborate closely with clients to develop customized logistics solutions, addressing their unique requirements and ensuring their satisfaction.
Liaise with external partners, including carriers, customs authorities, and vendors, to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Negotiate contracts and pricing agreements with service providers, ensuring cost-effective solutions while maintaining service quality.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
Lean, PMP, and / or other certifications are a plus.
Proven experience in freight forwarding, logistics, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of freight forwarding operations, customs regulations, and supply chain management principles.
Familiarity with distribution processes, including inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution network management.
Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successfully managing and developing teams.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make quick, well-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
Proficient in using logistics management software and tools.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in operations.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
