Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded professional to join our leadership team as the Vice President of Safety and Risk Management. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive safety programs and risk management initiatives to safeguard our employees, assets, and reputation. The Vice President of Safety and Risk Management will play a crucial role in promoting a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization.

Responsibilities:

·        Strategic Leadership:

o   Develop and execute the company's safety and risk management strategy in alignment with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.

o   Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate safety and risk management into overall business planning and decision-making processes.

·        Regulatory Compliance:

o   Stay abreast of federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to transportation safety, and ensure company compliance.

o   Establish and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies to facilitate open communication and proactive compliance measures.

·        Safety Training and Education:

o   Design and implement effective safety training programs for drivers, warehouse personnel, and other staff members.

o   Foster a safety-conscious culture through ongoing education, communication, and recognition programs.

·        Incident Investigation and Reporting:

o   Lead the investigation of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

o   Ensure accurate and timely reporting of safety-related incidents to relevant authorities and stakeholders.

·        Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

o   Conduct risk assessments across the organization, identifying potential hazards and implementing strategies to mitigate risks.

o   Work closely with insurance providers to optimize coverage and minimize exposure to financial risks.

·        Technology Integration:

o   Evaluate and implement advanced safety technologies, telematics, and data analytics to enhance safety performance and risk management capabilities.

·        Performance Monitoring:

o   Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for safety and risk management and regularly report on performance to executive leadership.

o   Implement continuous improvement initiatives based on data-driven insights and industry best practices.

Qualifications:

·        Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Risk Management, Transportation, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

·        Proven experience in a senior leadership role overseeing safety and risk management functions in the transportation industry.

·        In-depth knowledge of relevant federal and state regulations (e.g., DOT, FMCSA).

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

·        Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships at all organizational levels.

·        Certification in safety (e.g., CSP, SMS) and/or risk management is a plus.
