Our client, a large global manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Trade Compliance Manager in their Houston office. They will be a member of a global manufacturing and logistics team, ensuring accuracy of import/ export information and working cross-functionally to maintain compliance information and assist in resolving trade compliance issues.
Job Description:
Supervise, lead projects, and individually execute export and import day-to-day and transactional compliance matters for operations world-wide involving classifications, export control reviews, imports inquiries/investigations, audits, or mandatory reporting requirements.
Oversee and communicate across the company to ensure sound divisional understanding, cooperation, and consistency in execution of all export and import related compliance regulations, policies, and procedures.
Advise and communicate in export / import related areas, including but not limited to
Export and Import Regulations
Classification (HTS and ECCN) and Valuation
Internal Audits, Procedures and Training
Returns for Repair/Replacement
Import/Export Record Retention
Country of Origin / Marking
Free Trade Agreement Qualification/Certification
Export Control Screening
Special Duty Programs
Foreign National Visitors/Deemed Exports
Partner and interface in day-to-day and transactional compliance matters with internal and external partners, including Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Logistics, Procurement, Engineering, Customs Brokers, and Freight Forwarders.
Maintain a working knowledge of US trade sanctions and anti-boycott rules.
Assist Senior Legal counsel handling matters and special projects that relate to import/export.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or Finance
Minimum 5 years of experience in trade compliance duties for both imports and exports in a global capacity.
Effective communication both written and verbal
SAP/ERP experience preferred
Experience in tariff classification and country of origin determination
Minimum of 2 years of work experience within NAFTA/USMCA and customs and import/export operations, Duty Drawback, HTS Codes, and Tariff Shifts
