Act as an internal and external technology expert supporting existing plants in questions of technology and optimization of operations. Lead the global variable cost reduction initiative which focuses on process and energy optimization. Continual variable cost improvement on a year to year basis is expected. Observe plant operations then develop, suggest and implement improvements. This entails completing process simulations and optimization studies then recommending and implementing modifications and process installations at the site level. Provide technical solutions and perform higher order troubleshooting to solve reliability / processing problems and eliminate bottlenecks at production sites where capacity is being tested. Develop ideas generated by the R&D technology department and scale-up the processes for commercial production. Completed process design packages with sizing and operability defined are the deliverables to be submitted to project management. Act as the process engineering lead for the development of toll manufacturing capacity. This includes evaluating several toll manufactures and their equipment for fit versus our processing needs. Act as technical expert on-site at toll manufacturer during critical start-up of new campaigns and during routine campaigns when trouble is encountered. Act as internal process safety expert and champion process safety interests by leading process hazard studies (HAZOP) and performing pre-startup safety reviews (PSSR) for all sites domestic and abroad. This includes the requisite 5 year validations on HAZOPS and initial studies for all implemented projects. Support plant turn around activities by filling various roles on the management team and acting as project manager for larger capital scope items. Posses enough experience and a working knowledge of the operations engineers position for each plant as to act as a successful substitute when needed.
