The Manager, Electrical Engineering will lead a team of Electrical Engineers in the research, design, development, and ongoing support of advanced electrical and control systems for sophisticated medical device systems. Note that this position requires a hands-on approach at this time (25% manager) and the goal is that this person will grow the team over time, while reducing their hands on role. This role reports to the Senior Director, Hardware Engineering.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing hardware components.
- Creating detailed specifications.
- Managing system and subsystem integration efforts.
- Overseeing verification and validation activities to ensure compliance with applicable standards and requirements.
As a hands-on technical leader, the Manager will actively contribute to:
- Designing electrical circuits.
- Writing comprehensive electrical specifications and test procedures/reports.
- Generating design output files.
- Ensuring work aligns with the quality system requirements and applicable regulations.
This role demands a blend of technical expertise, leadership, and compliance proficiency to drive innovation while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in electrical engineering.
- At least 4 years of experience in projects within the medical device industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Technical Expertise:
- Strong foundation in electrical engineering principles.
- Proficiency in electronics, control systems, and embedded systems.
- Hands-on experience with product development, including PCB design, layout, and PBA.
- Skilled in electrical systems architecture design.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical issues and implement cost-effective solutions.
- In-depth understanding of IEC 60601 standards.
- Familiarity with documentation processes for medical devices, such as change orders and product release qualifications.
Leadership Skills:
- Demonstrated experience in leadership roles, such as Lead Engineer or Supervisor.
- Proven ability to build and manage cohesive teams in dynamic, fast-paced settings.
- Expertise in guiding the design process within organizational goals.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to establish and refine processes efficiently.
- Willingness to dedicate 75% of time to technical work while managing team responsibilities for the remaining 25%.
