FPC of Hendersonville is partnering with a global leader to fill an EH&S Manager role at a distribution center. This position develops and oversees safety programs aimed at zero injuries and high safety performance, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and ISO standards. The EH&S Manager also drives Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) targets for the logistics division, collaborating with employees at all levels and engaging with regulatory agencies and suppliers. The role involves budget input and management within set operational guidelines.

Salary: $115,000 + Bonus

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage EH&S programs, focusing on sustainable improvement, prevention, and compliance with corporate policies.
  • Coordinate training for employees and managers in safety practices; maintain training records.
  • Spend up to 70% of time on-site, assessing conditions, performing audits, observing processes, and implementing solutions.
  • Conduct Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) to identify hazards and recommend safe practices.
  • Address and report unsafe acts, conditions, and environmental risks to site leadership.
  • Oversee ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, ensuring audit and certification compliance.
  • Lead the Safety Committee and incident investigation processes, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Develop and monitor ergonomic and safety programs to reduce job-related injuries.
  • Implement training per OSHA, EPA, and ISO requirements; assist with corporate CSR and environmental goals.
  • Advise on EH&S budget needs; manage environmental programs for energy, air, waste, and water.
  • Support HR with Workers’ Compensation cases and workplace safety.
  • Lead EH&S activities, training, and inspections to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Track and report on EH&S metrics, aligning with corporate and local continuous improvement goals.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety or related discipline.  Other degrees supported by certifications or training program completions will be considered.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience focused on EH&S, preferably in a lean manufacturing or distribution environment. 
  • Experience ensuring compliance with Local, Federal, State and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience with ISO 14001/45001.  
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with close attention to detail.
  • Competent in Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities as well as to evaluate situations, identify options and implement effective solutions quickly and efficiently. 
  • Ability to interact with individuals at all levels within the organization.  Ability to create a team approach to EH&S across facilities.
  • Able to work independently as well as within a variety of teams.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, e-mail and meeting management software.  Ability to use internet and web based resources efficiently and effectively.
  • Must have good verbal and written communications skills, and be able to create effective reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time.
  • US Citizenship or Green Card Holder required.
