Position: Plant Operations Manager

Direct Reports: Production Supervisors

Reports To: VP of Operations

Salary Range: $95k to $110k

Bonus: 10% annual bonus

Relocation: Regional

Job Responsibilities: The Plant Operations Manager directs and manages the overall plant activities for production, maintenance, quality, and all other related activities. Responsible for establishing and delivering objectives for the plant including: safety, quality, cost, production standards, employee engagement and service/delivery. Drive achieving plant and corporate goals and objectives by directing GMP//QMS (Quality Management Systems) and by following procedures, work instructions and ensuring accurate documentation. Ensure all support activities are delivered at required levels including: inventory management, scheduling, maintenance, shipping, facilities, engineering, human resources, and customer relations.

  • Communicate all responsibilities and expectations to production team.
  • Ensures plant is operating safely and all safety precautions are being taken by employees.
  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
  • Coach and develop plant management, production, and administrative teams.
  • Always ensures appropriate staffing in the plant.
  • Leads and models’ appropriate leadership behaviors to enhance plant culture, employee engagement and retention.
  • Ensures plant machinery is appropriate and plans for future improvements and requirements.
  • Increase production and asset utilization/flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs.
  • Prepare, plan, implement and achieve annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Evaluates production systems and recommends improvements, as necessary.
  • Collaborates with Technical group to efficiently start-up production of samples and new products.
  • Prepares and submits operating reports to management to inform them of current production status and to make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leads continuous improvement through lean manufacturing/six sigma across the facility.
  • Supports production alignment across plants to improve overall company results.
  • Assures compliance of all plant activities with company policy and federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Reviews and approves performance reviews and manages salary and wage changes.
  • Serves as the leader of the management team.
  • Willing to travel to support business requirements. (Training, audits, customer visits, etc.)
     

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, OR 10 + years of proven work experience in a production environment to qualify for the position.
  • Ability to follow directions and work well in a team.
  • Thorough understanding of or the ability to quickly learn production equipment.
  • Understanding of and the ability to abide by applicable federal and state safety and environmental regulations.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and work under pressure. Requires a “Can-Do” attitude, hours can be long until under control.
  • Flexible to do what needs to be done and cares about the company and achieving positive results.
  • Ability to understand mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Effectively communicate expectations, goals, and deadlines both verbal and written, with follow-up to be sure tasks are on track.
  • Experience and knowledge of Lean Daily Management principles preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience hiring/training/coaching employees and performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both tactically and strategically (work high and work low)
  • Basic computer skills in Excel, Word, Power Point and MS Project
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, critical thinking and problems solving techniques is a must.
  • Self-driven and accountable with attention to detail and accuracy, experience with time management and organizational skills
