Job Responsibilities:
Major building materials company seeking a PROCESS ENGINEER for their manufacturing plant in Illinois. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the PROCESS ENGINEER will provide technical leadership to optimize productivity, cost, quality, and equipment reliability. Excellent career growth opportunity in a very stable and growing business. Other functions and key responsibilities include:
· Works closely with operators and staff to oversee quality control of raw materials, finished products, plant maintenance, product specifications and production schedules.
· Lead team of hourly employees in Continuous Improvement projects focused on waste elimination and process consistency.
· Works closely with Plant Engineer to monitor and improve efficiency, output and safety of plant
· Analyze work tasks and develop SOP’s and visual work instructions.
· Ensure operators and supervisors are trained in and utilize standard work methods.
· Identify and manage process improvement activities.
· Analyze production downtime and recommend/implement actions.
· Select and evaluate process equipment and make recommendations for plant use. Troubleshoot existing processes.
· Commissioning new production equipment and processes as well as modifications and upgrades.
· Provide technical guidance for environmental monitoring and ongoing performance of plant environmental controls and processes.
· Identify root causes of equipment and process issues and proactively initiate corrective actions.
· Develop, monitor and execute project plans (Project Management).
· Manage multiple projects at the same time and ensure quality work is completed in timely and safe manner.
Requirements:
· BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred, but will consider other Technical/Engineering degrees.
· 1-5 years hands-on Process Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
· Experience in building and/or roofing materials manufacturing a plus.
· Knowledge/usage of Total Quality Management (TQM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
· Knowledgeable of AutoCAD.
· Lean Six Sigma experience preferred.
· Proven track record in Continuous Improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing.
· Critical thinking skills and strong sense of urgency required.
· Root Cause and Corrective Action skills a must.
· Project implementation skills from initial stages to completion.
· PLC knowledge (ControlLogix/RS Logic).
· Excellent team player; mentor/coach young engineers and Co-Op students.
· Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.
· Must be able to understand, read, write, and speak using the English language.
· Candidate must be U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.
· Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, AutoCAD/Inventor.
