Position: Senior Production Manager
Direct Reports: 2 Supervisors and 54 hourly associates
Reports To: Plant Manager
Salary Range: $135k to $155k
Bonus: 12% with a stretch of x2
Relocation: Yes
Job Responsibilities: The Senior Production Manager will manage the daily plant operations to ensure safety, volume, costs, and quality standards are met. Ensures that resources are adequate to meet the plant’s production schedule and safety procedures are met or exceeded daily.
- Lead daily plant operations with a hands-on approach to meet site goals in quality, SIFOT, customer satisfaction, and production schedules.
- Champion a zero-defect culture in EHS, quality, and productivity through Operational Discipline (OD).
- Promote and coach a quality-first mindset, emphasizing error-proofing, continuous improvement, and team development.
- Apply Lean principles and visual management tools to drive improvements in safety, quality, and productivity.
- Review production demands to determine staffing needs, assign duties, and support the development of safety stock levels.
- Develop and implement efficient production flow strategies that enhance speed and output without compromising safety or product integrity.
- Leverage knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and cost management to maximize efficiency.
- Enforce company policies while coaching and developing production staff to consistently meet performance goals.
- Provide daily support to shift managers, resolving issues and driving productivity improvements.
- Serve as backup to the Plant Manager, overseeing all operational activities as needed.
- Achieve annual safety goals by promoting and enforcing safety procedures and maintaining a strong safety culture.
- Own operational health and safety responsibilities, supporting the EHS Engineer with required documentation.
- Participate in weekly Tier 3 meetings, offering solutions for underperforming KPIs.
- Prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
- Address employees concerns in partnership with HR, ensuring a respectful and responsive work environment.
- Lead the semi-annual physical inventory process.
- Drive continuous improvement in housekeeping and 5S+1 standards.
- Ensure optimal labor utilization while continuously improving safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
- Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to meet SIFOT targets.
- Monitor and control departmental spending in alignment with the operational budget.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations, Business, or another relevant field.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical plant operations and industry regulations.
- 5 + years of proven experience as a chemical plant operations Manager or similar role in an industrial setting.
- 5 + years of experience with Lean Six Sigma mythologies.
- ERP systems required, preferably SAP.
- Project Management experience required.
- Must have experience with ISO 9001 or higher quality management system.
- Strong working knowledge with KPI reporting, cost analysis, and presentations.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of inventory control methods and project management technique.
