Summary of the Job:
The Production Engineer leads the assigned Manufacturing Unit(s) to achieve targets for Safety, Environmental, Production, Quality, and Cost. The role involves overseeing the daily operations of the chemical manufacturing plant, ensuring smooth and safe production processes that meet quality standards and targets. Responsibilities include leading a production team, coordinating with other departments, optimizing productivity, and ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
Job Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Manufacturing leadership and the facility workforce.
- Provide production-engineering support for process improvement, cost reduction, equipment reliability, and EHS enhancements through lean manufacturing concepts.
- Lead improvement teams and production analysis.
- Ensure EHS compliance for capital projects and maintenance.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust to meet targets and demands.
- Supervise, train, and evaluate production staff promoting safety and efficiency.
- Conduct team meetings, implement process improvements, and streamline operations.
- Maintain industry safety and environmental standards.
- Manage resources to optimize production output.
- Maintain production records and prepare performance reports.
- Develop and manage capital projects for process improvements.
- Meet department goals and objectives with little oversight.
- Adhere to Quality and EHS policies and ISO management system requirements.
Required Qualifications:
- 4-year Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 3+ years of operations or Process Engineering experience in a chemical or petrochemical setting.
- 0-3+ years of supervisory experience in chemical manufacturing.
- Strong communication skills, technical aptitude, and continuous improvement knowledge.
- Experience with SAP and proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
Physical Requirements:
- Operate electronic office equipment.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work.
- Occasional lifting up to 10 pounds, bending, stooping, and reaching.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment including exposure to chemicals, dust, heat, loud machinery, and wearing PPE.
