Job Responsibilities:

 

Specialty Chemical company in need of an INSTRUMENTATION AND CONTROLS ENGINEER for their manufacturing operations near Fort Worth, TX.  Reporting to the Plant Manager, the I&C ENGINEER is responsible for managing site’s Instrumentation, Process Controls, MIS, Security, and IT Systems.  Other functions and key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

 

·         Installation, programming, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of PLC hardware and software control systems.

·         Develop and write ladder logic and graphic interfaces for plant PLC’s and control computers.

·         Document control programming narratives and process/safety interlocks.

·         Other process devices responsible for include:  variable speed drives, encoders, process probes, power supplies and control valves.  Temperature, flow, and pressure components.

·         Maintain and improve site Security and IT Systems (information networks, phone networks, and personal computers).

·         Perform cost estimates for instruments, control components, variable speed drives, communication equipment and management information systems.

·         Generate wiring diagrams, layout drawings and engineering specifications.

·         Lead and assist Process Engineer to maintain and upgrade site instrumentation, PLC’s, control arrangements, HMI software, PFD’s, and P&ID’s.

·         Create automated reports using PLC/HMI software.

·         Awareness of ISO 9001 and RC14001 requirements.

 

Job Requirements:

 

·         BS Degree in Engineering required.  Electrical or Chemical Engineer preferred.

·         3+ years’ experience in Instrumentation, Process Controls and HMI Systems experience required.

·         Must have training/experience related to Instrumentation, Controls and Electrical Systems.

·         Flexibility to possibly work extended hours as well as respond to call-outs.

·         Ability to read/understand electrical schematics, P&ID’s, ladder diagrams, technical manuals and maintain documentation.

·         Competent or willing to learn Information Systems such as site security, computer networks, phone networks and personal computer applications.

·         Understanding of various PLC and HMI Systems a must.  Ability to develop or learn to develop PLC code and graphic interfaces for plant SCADA Systems.

·         Lean Manufacturing knowledge preferred.

·         Experience working in union manufacturing facility a plus.

·         Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communications skills, both oral and written.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees, management, and vendors.

·         Minimal travel required.

·         Must be U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder.

 

Salary Range:  $100k - $120k
