Salary Range: $110k to $135k DOE
Bonus: 15% annual bonus
Relocation: Remote
Job Responsibilities: The Corporate Environmental Engineer will be responsible for providing global support to chemical production sites specific to the environmental compliance and protection of the employees, community, and surroundings; while balancing business risks and requirements. This position will play a role in supporting the Risk Management Plan (RMP) in conjunction with Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, as well as site and/or capital project support.
- Partner with facilities to guide the implementation of EHS and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategies.
- Assist leadership and facilities in understanding and compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, rules and codes within US, Canada, and the UK.
- Develop and implement environmental policies, procedures, standards, and training.
- Measure effectiveness of environmental program implementation and provide updates to leadership and determine best path forward in achieving Zero Waste.
- Develop strategies for energy conservation, waste reduction, and recourse management.
- Conduct periodic environmental audits of manufacturing facilities to identify potential compliance risks and recommend corrective actions. Implement initiatives designed to identify, evaluate, and control environmental related risks using a continuous improvement mindset.
- Serves as the subject matter expert on existing or emerging local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
- Conduct environmental impact assessments for new projects and operations.
- Collaborates with engineering and operations teams to mitigate environmental impact and install equipment in support of manufacturing operations (e.g. air pollution control devices).
- Lead or facilitate incident investigations, including determination of root causes and development of corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Provide oversight and management of site EH&S related action items.
- Assist site EHS Managers with complex environmental permitting projects and calculations (e.g., air emission tracking sheets).
- Identify and implement key performance metrics, with a focus on leading indicators.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or closely related degree required.
- MS a major plus.
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in an Environmental role within manufacturing, preferably chemical, specialty chemical, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, or another industry utilizing PSM/RMP programs.
- Experience in PSM and RMP required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
- Experience with Environmental Permitting.
- Detail oriented and ability to handle multiple tasks in fast paced environment.
- Microsoft Office including Advanced Excel skills.
- Must be able to maintain collaborative working relationships with plant staff, production supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel.
- Must be able to travel 40-50%; must be available to respond to incidents and/or provide coverage after hours, as required.
