Role Summary

The Senior Staff Engineer, Electrical Design leads the development of complex electrical systems from concept through production. This role owns system architecture, detailed design, simulation, testing, validation, and manufacturing support. The engineer works closely with customers, cross-functional engineering teams, manufacturing, and project leadership to deliver high-quality, compliant, and reliable products across regulated and high-reliability markets.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role within a global engineering organization, with opportunities to support programs across Aerospace & Defense, Industrial, Energy, and HealthTech applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical system and circuit design from concept through qualification and production
  • Serve as a technical authority and mentor for engineering teams
  • Review, interpret, and negotiate customer requirements and specifications
  • Develop schematics, BOMs, drawings, and design documentation
  • Perform simulation, testing, troubleshooting, and performance validation
  • Drive design for reliability, manufacturability, and compliance
  • Support manufacturing, suppliers, and customers throughout the product lifecycle
  • Lead or support strategic engineering initiatives and site-wide programs
  • Collaborate across global, cross-functional teams

Required Technical Expertise

Electrical Design Domains:

  • Digital, Analog, Power, and RF circuit design
  • Power systems, switching supplies, batteries, point-of-load supplies
  • FPGA, DSP, embedded systems, signal & power integrity
  • RF design ( 20 GHz)

PCB & Tools:

  • Schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Cadence, Mentor (Xpedition/PADS), Altium
  • Tolerance analysis, static timing, EMC/ESD controls

Systems & Compliance:

  • Systems engineering (V-Model, architecture, requirements decomposition)
  • DFMEA, DFx, interface control documentation
  • EMC testing (radiated/conducted emissions & immunity)
  • Regulatory standards: IEC 60601, 60950 (62304 & 13471 a plus)

Leadership & Business Skills

  • Technical leadership and mentoring of junior engineers
  • Project planning, scheduling, and risk mitigation
  • Customer-facing communication with technical and executive stakeholders
  • Project estimation, quoting, and scope management
  • Financial planning, profitability analysis, and business case development
