Position Overview: Perform and advise on the design, development, testing, documentation, installation, commissioning, and ongoing service of power systems to meet customer requirements. Support sales efforts through proposal generation, cost estimation, and technical presentations. Define equipment to be purchased, develop engineering requisitions, and evaluate and interact with vendors. Coordinate and conduct training for customers and coworkers. Assist with project management tasks including reviewing project schedules and assignments, equipment procurement, budgets, change orders, and providing reports for management. Comply with company standard operating procedures.

Responsibilities:

Area of responsibility is primarily tactical/operational in nature and include:

Responsible for the execution of Power System Solutions, as well as enhancements, modifications, and upgrades to existing industrial power systems, and integrate the appropriate hardware and software.

Develop material specifications and schematics for: simple to intermediate power systems, Substations and SCADA systems

Perform power system analysis.

Support marketing and proposals with cost estimates, technical specification generation, technical vendor evaluations, and BOMs and take-offs for greenfield, brownfield and revamp proposals.

Execute projects at project engineer capacity while supporting the lead engineer in balancing budget, customer expectations and technical specifications requirements.

Use NESC, NEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards to specify and evaluate the power system equipment and integrate the various equipment to build customized power system solutions for our customers.

Perform Steady state analysis and support in performing EMTP analysis, power system analysis for systems such as load flow, short circuit, protective relay coordination, arc flash, EMTP analysis for filter switching, insulation coordination, RC element sizing.

Design protection and control schematics for outdoor substations from 34.5kV to 230kV for industrial customers.

Develop system engineering, to/from lists, panel schematics and integration schematics to bring equipment together based on the ANSI, IEEE, and Company department standards.

Execute IEC61850 based SCADA and power monitoring systems for small to medium scale industrial plants and support under guidance for large scale systems. Interact with the customer to answer technical questions and review applicable design documents.

Required Skills/Knowledge, Education and Experience:

The following skills must have been gained through either professional experience, doctoral research experience, or academic coursework: EMTP analysis, EIT Certification, IEC61850 based substation automation, NEC and ANSI standards, SCADA, power system analysis, protection design and protective relay testing and commissioning, substation design and automation. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
