Employee focused manufacturer seeking an EHS Manager to join their team.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
Ensure all safety training programs for plant employees are effective and in compliance with regulatory agency
Keep abreast of proposed changes to existing laws regarding their possible effects on the plant and take action with plant management to address these items
Obtains and maintains necessary regulatory permits, licenses and approvals to ensure compliance with laws and regulations at local, state and federal level.
Manages consultants and other professional representatives to complete studies, reports and analyses of EH&S related activities.
Partners with HR on all aspects of plant Workers' compensation claims are addressed in a timely manner and all compliance requirements are met.
Accompany third party representatives (e.g. MSHA, Workers' Compensation, O.L., etc.) on plant inspections; ensure corrective action on any items of improvement brought to the Company’s attention.
Oversee plant safety inspection programs identifying potential safety hazards and ensure timely correction of all items
Coordinate and participate in Root Cause Analysis for injuries, near miss incidents and property damage
Compiles and submits compliance and monitoring reports required by regulatory
Develop safety-related policies and procedures that are aligned to company philosophy and legal compliance.
Ensure Hearing Conservation Program including noise surveys, annual audiometric testing, and annual training is administered as
Administer effective safety orientation and conduct safety analyses on job functions and work with site management and employees to reduce any hazards.
Conduct thorough investigation of any environmental issues and oversee plant environmental inspection programs to proactively ensure compliance.
Provide effective environmental awareness training for plant personnel.
Continuous Improvement/Lean:
Acts as resource and champion for site continuous improvement activities (Suggestion Program, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, problem solving, ).
Manages individual employee involvement in continuous improvement activities to ensure equal opportunities are available for all department members to participate.
Qualifications:
BS in Occupational Health and Safety or similar degree
Required Skills:
5 years management within manufacturing
Strong people skills: ability to build and maintain professional, trusting relationships with customer; ability to learn the culture and uniqueness of the customer environment and adapt to various personality types and reporting levels quickly and effectively
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office skills; highly proficient in Excel, able to manipulate data, send and receive e-mail, and access online ordering
