The client is a global leader in design, manufacturing, and supply chain solutions, specializing in advanced technologies for a diverse range of industries, including energy, Health Tech., and aerospace & defense.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior leader and visionary Power/Energy Systems Architect with deep product and application expertise specifically within hyperscale and enterprise data center environments. This role is pivotal in developing cutting-edge power and energy solutions for our data center clients, focusing on advanced battery energy storage systems, integrated energy generation solutions, and critical balance of plant (BOP) subsystems. The ideal candidate will possess profound familiarity with the intricate electrical systems, power delivery networks, and evolving energy infrastructure of modern data center operations.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate product development & application experience, technical expertise, strong customer relations skills, and proficiency in program and project management. This role involves leading cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and execute engineering service solutions that meet industry standards and certification requirements for utility-scale, commercial/industrial, and residential applications.  This role is both customer facing and technical / interfacing with the Global Engineering Design and Commercialization Centers.

Overall, the candidate will be responsible for coordinating and developing solutions in areas such as engineering services, requirements engineering, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, testing and evaluation, maintainability and many other disciplines necessary for successful system design, development, implementation, and ultimate decommission.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership: Define and execute engineering strategies for power and energy systems, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and industry standards.  Lead the implementation of technical solutions for complex projects, involving multiple domains. Participate in project planning and scheduling.  Specifically related to data center power and energy systems, battery storage, energy generation systems, and BOP subsystems.

Lead the architectural definition and evolution of complex power delivery networks (PDNs) for data centers, including current industry standards (e.g., 400V AC/DC) and emerging architectures (e.g., 800V AC/DC, high-voltage rack power distribution).

Oversee the design for various applications across multiple projects. Examples could include the following:

1.      Energy Efficiency: Designing systems to maximize energy efficiency and minimize operational costs. This involves selecting energy-efficient hardware, utilizing renewable energy sources when possible, and implementing technologies like power distribution units (PDUs) and backup power systems (UPS).

2.      Power Supply and Distribution: Ensuring a reliable and redundant power supply, designing advanced electrical systems to handle the ultra-high density and continuous energy demands of modern and future data centers, including considerations for higher voltage architectures (e.g., 400V, 800V) and innovative power distribution architectures (e.g., direct-to-chip power, liquid-cooled power delivery)..

3.      Power Load Analysis: Conducting sophisticated load assessments to determine precise power requirements for current and future equipment (e.g., AI/HPC loads) and planning infrastructure scalability to support multi-megawatt rack power densities.

Foster strong relationships with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions, review and interpret customer specifications and may act as primary customer contact.

Lead the deployment of strategic technologies/programs and coordinate global deployment efforts.  May manage relationships with key vendors/partners.

Collaborate with engineering, product management, business development, and sales teams to develop innovative solutions that align with market demands.  Design, modify and implement systems that meet customer and company needs. E.g. Architecture of solution: Divide up tasks for various engineering teams to execute taking into consideration requirements engineering, reliability, logistics, coordination of different teams, testing and evaluation, maintainability and many other disciplines necessary for successful system design and field support.

Innovation: Identify emerging technologies and trends in power and energy systems, integrating them into customer solutions.

Keep up to date with relevant industry knowledge and regulations, and ensure compliance with industry standards, certification requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

Develop and implement strategic initiatives that drive operational improvements and enhance customer satisfaction.

Takes responsibility for non-technical elements of an engineering project (people, financials etc.)

Provide mentorship and guidance to team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

Prepare and present project reports, updates, and technical documentation to stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be expected to be a high-energy, creative and resourceful self-starter who demonstrates leadership skills and instincts. He/she is highly intelligent and enthusiastic with a commitment to excellence. In terms of personal competencies, the successful candidate must be a hands-on person who possesses the best combination of strategic thinking and drive to achieve tangible business results. The candidates must be able to balance theoretical thought with practical. In addition, he/she should possess the following competencies:

Engineering Skills: Clear understanding of the hyperscale and enterprise data center power market, including current and future power architecture trends, design methods, and certification requirements involved in the total product life cycle.

Energy Background: Knowledge of applicable product certification processes and ability to interface with various regulatory agencies.

Leadership: A confident, mature person with the ability to connect and motivate others. Ability to lead projects and teams that successfully achieve milestones and complete deliverables.

Results-Oriented: A driver who possesses the ability to take actions and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.

Problem Solver: A creative yet pragmatic problem solver. Methodical and hands-on as well as detail-oriented.

Analytical Thinking and Decision-Making: Excellent planning, execution and project-management skills.

Teamwork and Interpersonal Skills: A team player and builder, receptive to ideas from others. Shares information and keeps team members and partners informed. Works effectively with others to identify and resolve issues. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to interact successfully with a diverse workforce.

Ethics: Highest level of professional integrity and honesty as well as personal credibility.
