Quality Engineer Job Responsibilities:
Job Summary: Plans and directs activities concerning development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university required and five years related experience/training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Minitab
- Must have a good knowledge of the English language
- Core Tools Certification
- Excellent teamwork, time management, documentation, communication, and problem solving skills
- Must be able to self-motivate, train others, analyze data, and work independently
- Knowledge of Customer Specific Requirements
- Knowledge of ISO 9001/IATF 16949
Essential Functions:
- Leads the problem solving activity for internal and external (customer and supplier) related quality issues
- Perform root cause analysis
- Proficient with basic quality tools and six sigma methodology.
- Ensures internal and external containment procedures are complied with
- Provides and verifies all documentation and leads communication of all issues relating to product/process conformance, quality status updates, and other applicable coordination activities to management, the program team, and inter-departments for resolution and/or awareness
- Supports engineering change requests, notification systems, and additional quality responsibilities for assigned customer and supplier products
- Leads the effort to “Build in Quality”, improving FPY and Material Yield performance including,
- Process FMEA (Engineering is responsible to initiate and drive, Quality is required in development and other plant disciplines)
- Control Plans and Quality Check Sheets
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
