Summary of the Position

The cost accountant position will play a pivotal role on the North America accounting team executing the accounting and financial management functions. This individual will also have a specific focus on the company’s cost accounting initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Provide direct support to the sister operation overseeing the financial aspects of inventory and production processes. Responsibilities include inventory management, reporting and analysis, and the recording and tracking of production output in ERP.

  • Perform cost accounting activities for multiple operating locations across the company’s vertical structure.
  • Develop and maintain overhead cost standards for the company’s various production locations to ensure they are effective in capturing the true cost of the manufacturing process.
  • Responsible for assessing obsolescence risk across the North America verticals and establishing and maintaining reserves based on changes in market demand, shelf life, or other factors.
  • Collaborate with production and operations teams across North America verticals to ensure accurate valuation of inventory and proper allocation of costs.
  • Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations between entities across North America region. Contribute to North America financial close process to reconcile accounts, prepare journal entries, and investigate and resolve reconciling items or discrepancies identified.
  • Utilize and leverage Blackline software to streamline processes and enhance efficiency within the accounting and operation functions.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • CPA is required
  • Minimum 5 years of previous Staff Accountant or relevant role in accounting
  • Excellent use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook
  • Attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, and ability to adapt communication style to the audience as needed.
  • Act legally and ethically in all professional relationships in adherence with company’s culture, values and fundamentals.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a typical office setting and may be hybrid where time is spent at an office location and in a remote work setting. There may be exposure to warehouse environments where proper PPE is required.

Physical requirements

This position works primarily in an office environment where the temperature is maintained throughout the year. Use of a computer and phone are required on a regular basis.
