Global Commodity Manager - Plastic and Chemicals 

 

Responsibilities

  • Act as global supply management leader for assigned commodities (Plastic & Chemicals). Initiate supplier identification, assessment, selection, and development processes. Develop and execute commodity sourcing strategies to meet customer and business unit objectives.
  • Lead cross functional teams and manage supply chain goals improving value-to-cost relationship by focusing on total cost of ownership, quality, delivery, service and working capital (DPO/inventory)
  • Lead all commercial negotiations with commodity supply partners
  • Proactively manage supplier base ensuring supply with no adverse impact on the business. Analyze, identify and understand supply chain risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate
  • Utilize formal benchmarking methods to determine best in class processes and drive improvement maintaining at the forefront of emerging industry practices
  • Measure and track supply performance within assigned commodities. Resolves and/or escalate issues in a timely fashion
  • Effectively communicate with appropriate management levels both internally and externally 
  • Project scoping – Assess the scope of cost reduction projects, resources required, potential savings, risks and assumptions and implementation plan
  • Project management – Lead, guide and coach cross-functional team members through the implementation of global cost reduction projects. Prepare and communicate material for project gate review sign-off meetings
  • Conduct business dealings with the highest level of integrity and regard for legal and environmental issues
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required. Chemical or Mechanical Engineer concentration preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of Global Sourcing Category/Commodity Management experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience within manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Global Commodity Management experience with Plastic Components to include Injection Molding, Adhesives, Plastic & Foam Extrusions, Cast Urethane, Fiberglass, Chemicals, Binders (PF, UF, MDI) and Resin (PP, PE, PS, ABS).
  • Direct spend category management.
  • Leading Contract and Supply agreement negotiations globally.
  • Leading teams and project management.
  • Strategic sourcing planning and execution.
  • Experience working in a North American multinational environment.
  • Very proficient with Word, Excel, Access, Project and PowerPoint, MS Project skills.
  • Six Sigma training and /Greenbelt certification is a plus

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
