Defense manufacturer seeks experienced Software Design Engineer to join close knit team in developing leading edge defense technology. This client is a subsidiary of a global defense firm which means you can stand out in a small community while enjoying the stability and resources of larger organizations. This role is onsite in Northeastern Mississippi. 

Duties/Responsibilities

• Software Development. Create and maintain defense system software, emphasizing efficiency and maintainability
• Testing and Validation. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans to ensure software functionality and performance
• Compliance and Documentation. Ensure adherence to standards, security protocols, and documentation for ease of understanding and maintenance
• Optimization and Version Control. Identify and implement performance optimizations while using version control for traceability and collaboration
• Support and Compliance. Provide ongoing support, updates, and ensure compliance with safety and industry standards
• Cross-Functional Collaboration. Collaborate across teams for successful project execution and troubleshoot technical issues independently or within a team
• Continuous Improvement. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to continually enhance software designs

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Strong knowledge of software development methodologies and design patterns
• Software security and encryption techniques
• Experience with version control systems and collaboration tools
• Knowledge of defense industry regulations and standards

 Required Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related engineering field. Master's degree preferred.
• Demonstrated experience in software design and development for defense systems or similarly complex, safety-critical applications
• Security clearance or eligibility to obtain required

Salary

• $140,000-$160,000 base (exact salary dependent on individual skills and experience)
