Our client a global leader in the building materials industry is offering an opportunity for an Environmental Manager to join their team in their Plant located midway between Knoxville and Chattanooga. With a head count of 154 and reporting to a Corporate Director, Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability, this is an opportunity to hone your skills and add to your own tool box of experience.  
 
Position Summary
 
Assure compliance with all applicable federal, state, local and corporate environmental regulations and permit issues (air, water, etc.).  Coordinate the development and administration of environmental policies, procedures and programs at the facility.  Provide plant-wide environmental support for design, utilization and operational issues relating to the  facility and division-wide by advising on technical problems, technical changes to plant equipment, processes, energy, electrical/instrumentation systems, and site facilities.  Plans, organizes and initiates capital for environmental projects.
 
Job Description
 
  • Maintain/update and implementation of the Environmental Compliance plan.
  • Monitors pollution control equipment and air emissions: Ensures equipment function, manages emissions inventory, and coordinates testing.
  • Manages permits and chemical inventory: Assists with air permit modifications, maintains chemical inventory for reporting.
  • Oversees waste management and emergency preparedness: Manages solid waste, tracks fuel usage, and coordinates emergency response plans.
  • Conducts environmental inspections and sampling: Performs site inspections, collects water samples, and updates contingency plans.
  • Maintains environmental management systems: Implements ISO standards, trains employees, and tracks environmental costs.
  • Ensures compliance with various regulations: Oversees permit fees, maintains sustainability index, and conducts internal audits.
  • Provides environmental training and maintains documentation: Trains employees, maintains production data, and ensures compliance with communication and hazardous materials programs.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for environmental compliance: Owns specific environmental compliance standards.
 
Requirements & Preferred Competencies:
 
  • B.S. degree in Safety, Environmental, Engineering or related field of studies.
  • At least 3 years of EHS discipline in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of environmental and safety regulations and compliance.
  • Demonstrated leadership, English language skills, excellent communication skills, and proficient PC skills.
