We are seeking a highly motivated and results-driven R&D Technical Program Manager (TPM) to join our Program Management Office (PMO). As a key player, the TPM will oversee and manage complex R&D engineering projects for SPARC, our groundbreaking compact fusion machine. The role requires strong leadership in engineering, design, and construction, ensuring the successful execution of these projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead medium to large development, manufacturing, R&D, or analysis programs, managing schedules, budgets, and program objectives.
Oversee test planning, including facility identification, test article fabrication, data collection, and risk mitigation.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure alignment on objectives, timelines, and analyses to inform testing, manufacturing, and development.
Manage cross-functional communication to track progress, mitigate risks, and elevate issues when necessary.
Guide technical teams to design and execute tests that maximize learning for future designs.
Coordinate with test facilities for timely data reduction and feedback.
Leverage external support from government, industry, and academic partners for project success.
Mentor the R&D engineering team and promote best practices.
Work with procurement to ensure timely and cost-effective purchases aligned with program needs.
Manage external relationships with collaborators such as MIT, testing facilities, and government labs.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or applied science (required).
10+ years managing technical project/program teams and complex development projects.
Proficiency in project management tools and system-level design.
Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills.
Preferred:
Graduate degree in engineering.
Experience with government proposals and cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
History of delivering complex projects like superconducting magnets.
Additional:
Willingness to travel or work occasional nights/weekends.
